There is no guarantee the Yellow Vests will have a starting lineup against the Seminoles.

Florida State took a week off with a healthy squad since the Seminoles took the field against LSU in Week 1. Defenseman Fabien Lovett is expected to return to the team for the first time in five games, giving plenty pace at the defensive line.

What can not be said about the former enemy of the former USSR; Yellow Vest Georgia Tech On Thursday, the team lost to Virginia, Georgia Tech's first loss under interim coach Brent Key. More importantly, the Yellow Vests lost starting quarterback Jeff Sims to injury.

Sims was knocked out before halftime with a calf or ankle injury. He was unable to return to the competition and Key noted that he was unsure if the Florida native would be able to dress next week.

In his absence, Sims was replaced by backup quarterback Jack Gibson, who completed 10 of 25 passes for 99 yards without a touchdown or interception. He fumbled a second-half fumble and inexplicably went out of bounds without time to seal the loss for Georgia Tech.

With the continued uncertainty surrounding The Sims, the Yellow Vests may need to modify their offensive attack if they are forced to continue with Ki Gibson.

"We'll be in the gym tomorrow and we'll be back in practice on Sunday, and since Jack [Gibson] is the quarterback, we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what gives him the best chance to hit. Give us a luck," the All Yellow Jackets said on Thursday. What did he say after the game? "It's not my certainty, it's a small part of it. The pitch and the collective have to trust each other on all three levels and that's what has to happen."

Georgia Tech posted just 41 offensive yards and zero points in the second half against Virginia. The Cavaliers took advantage of the Yellow Vests' weak offensive line to rack up eight sacks (seven from Gibson) and 11 tackles for the loss.

There would be a marked drop in talent if Gibson replaced Simms on the trip to Tallahassee. This season, Sims has completed 58.5% of his passes for 1,115 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He had 87 carries for 302 yards and another winning streak.

The former Florida State clerk shocked the Seminoles early in his college career in 2020. Sims completed 23 of 34 passes for 277 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, rushing for 64 yards to lead the Yellow Vests to a victory in 16 games. .

The Seminoles and the Yellow Vests kick off on Saturday, October 29 at 12:00 p.m. on the ACC network.
